Finding Nemo

'A father-son underwater adventure

featuring Nemo, a boy clownfish,

stolen from his coral reef home. His

timid father must then travel to

Sydney and search Sydney Harbour

to find Nemo.' - IMDb.com

One of my very favourite movies.

Mainly because it's just so calm and seriously relieves stress.

For those who have not yet seen 'Finding Nemo' (seriously wtf are you doing with your life?!)

I must have watched this film literally about a thousand times in the past 8 years.

I just love the picture. It's incredibly well done, Thanks Pixar for teaming up with Disney began loosing their touch around 2000, since then their greatest achievements have definitely been thanks to Pixar!!

I actually have the cuddly toy version
of Squirt here. It talks and everything!!
I recently bought the soundtrack to the movie and love it. It's composed by Thomas Newman - turns he's also done about 87 movie soundtracks, including Wall-E (a lot of similarities in the music in that and Finding Nemo), Little WomenErin Brockovich, Green Mile, Pay It Forward, and The Shawshank Redemption - All of which are favourites of mine.

Though Wiki tells me that Thomas Newman lost many awards for his films because something that had a better soundtrack happened to be out at the same time - For example Hans Zimmer's 'The Lion King', or Howard Shore's 'The Lord of the Rings'.

Watching the Grass Grow...

So I have recently bought myself Season 4 of the TV series 'Weeds'.

When I buy a season of a TV drama, I tend to re-watch the first few seasons all over again to get back into it. This is what I've been doing for the past 3 days...

The story has definitely gone downhill this season. It's basically moved on from just weed dealing to people trafficking.

Only really great thing about this season is Hunter Parrish (Silus Botwin) - He's all grown up now and seems to be topless rather a lot! Ohh yeeeahh :P

Phwoooarrr!

Possibly I've been single a little bit too long...

A Picture Paints A Thousand Words

A friend of mine has a blog on Tumblr - http://watie.tumblr.com/ - which I just managed to spend about 2 hours looking at. She's put up some really inspiring and wonderful images on there.

I went to the Musee de Pompidou in Paris, France in February 2010. In the gallery they had an exhibition of Women very interesting, but also really weird. I have also visited The Louvre, home to some really wonderful pieces of art, and some very famous paintings, such as the Mona Lisa, and also some very famous statues, such as 'Aprodite' known as 'Venus de Milo'.

I find art so inspiring, but yet, so pointless! I can waste hours and hours looking at it, but not gain anything much from it, and it's not like it really has a purpose other than that.

I'm really very creative myself, but I just feel that what I create needs to have a purpose in life, like jewelry that can be worn, or cards that can be sent.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I just don't understand 'Art'. Not in the photographic/sculptural kind of forms anyway. Deep down I know that I couldn't do without it. Alternatively, Music, film and literature I love without question.

Wikipedia describes art as:

'The product or process of deliberately arranging items (often with symbolic significance) in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect.

It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, and paintings.

The meaning of art is explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics, and even disciplines such as history and psychology analyze its relationship with humans and generations.

Traditionally, the term 'art' was used to refer to any skill or mastery.

This conception changed during the Romantic period, when art came to be seen as "a special faculty of the human mind to be classified with religion and science".

Generally, art is made with the intention of stimulating thoughts and emotions'

I'd love to get into Photography, I have friends that are really good at capturing a really beautiful image. But I've never been that great at it, maybe because I don't have the patience? Or maybe because I don't have a good enough camera?

Piece of Me

So in the musical world of me I'm currently completely obsessed with Britney's new album - 'Femme Fatale' which has now been on repeat for a whole day. Give it another day or two and I'll probably never want to listen to it again, but in the mean time I though I'd express my views on the contraversial topic of Miss Britney Spears.

I know everyone says that they hate her, but we all know that deep down life wouldn't be the same without Britney Spears. Who else would you have given us the hairbrush number 'Stronger' and filled our teen magazines with endless stories from the surreal world of the rich and famous for the past 15 years?

I, for one, really love her. Short of making a youtube video telling the world to 'leave britney alone', I do honestly think she's got a hell of a lot of bad press. I'm not denying she's done some pretty mental shit - shaving her head being just one in a catalogue of insanities, but one does think that it might be due to her being thrust into the publics eye and becoming so famous at such a young age.

Britney isn't even the only example of child-stars going a bit insane. Disney made star, Vanessa Hudgens had semi-naked self-taken photos leaked across the web world. Our dear Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) has also been shown 'accidently' letting a nip-slip and flaunting a bit of underwear to get a bit of extra media attention [now at 21, she's the new face of Lancome Paris, so things seem to be going well for her].

Ultimately I think the media should at least be giving celebrities a fighting chance to live their own life and turn out ok. I'm pretty sure that excessive media attention is actually not good for a person at all. Imagine being followed every time you left your house! I certainly don't think I could cope. No wonder Miss Spears went a bit crazy!
